A basic symbol is a graphic representation of an idea or object. They are easy to remember, simple and bold, and can be combined together to create more complex images.

Symbols are an important part of language. They’re ways we express ourselves to make our communication more interesting and memorable.

Symbols are used to communicate ideas and concepts that might be difficult to express with words alone. There are many different types of symbols, but they can be split into two broad categories: abstract and pictorial. Abstract symbols consist of shapes and forms that don't necessarily look like what they represent, while pictorial symbols usually take the form of an image that resembles what it represents. An example of an abstract symbol might be a square with equal sides, representing perfection or balance. A pictorial symbol might be a stop sign.
