While SpecTats cannot be mixed from different tat design collections, you do have the flexibility to choose various designs from within the same collection for each lens.

You can opt for a single design on the right lens, replicate the same design on both the left and right lenses, or even choose different designs for each lens from within the same collection.

Attempting to apply SpecTats onto your current lenses could lead to unpredictable outcomes. The age and material of existing lenses vary, and our process is tailored for new eyewear. This means applying SpecTats to your current lenses might result in undesired effects, potentially damaging or even destroying the lenses and/or frames.

SpecTats can be applied to non-prescription glasses, whether they're for everyday eyewear or stylish sunglasses. We offer ophthalmic lenses specifically tailored for eyewear and sunwear that do not contain any prescription.

SpecTats customization is designed exclusively for our new eyewear and sunwear. Unfortunately, we do not offer SpecTats application services for non-prescription frames you may already own.

Yes they will

Every SpecTats lens comes equipped with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring enhanced visual clarity and reduced glare for a superior eyewear experience.

For our silver mirror and blue mirror lenses, the anti-reflective coating is applied on the back side (inside) of the lens. The mirrored front of these lenses effectively takes care of reflection on the front side, while the coating on the back side further minimizes any potential glare or reflections, optimizing your vision and comfort.

We understand the importance of protecting your eyes in today's digital age. As such, our 'clear' lens offering includes blue light protection at no additional cost.

Polycarbonate mostly

SpecTats primarily utilize polycarbonate lenses for their durability and high impact resistance. However, in the case of non-prescription sunwear, plastic lenses are used. Photochromic lenses may utilize a mid-index material.

Unfortunately no

At this moment, SpecTats does not provide children's frames. The challenge lies in the size of many children's frames, which are often smaller, making it difficult to engrave designs onto the lenses. 

Our process requires a certain lens size to ensure accuracy and quality in the engraving, which is currently not compatible with smaller frames typically worn by children.

Not enough room

SpecTats undergo a unique customization process, which influences the available frame shapes and styles. The size requirements for SpecTats engraving play a key role in determining the eligible frame shapes.

Some frame shapes, specifically those with 'short' lenses, are not compatible with SpecTats customization. If the lenses are too small, the engraving quality might diminish, affecting the overall appearance and detail of your SpecTats.

For optimal results, we use frame styles with a lens height greater than 34mm. This ensures that the SpecTats engraving maintains the desired quality and clarity.

While wearing your glasses with SpecTats, you might notice SpecTats as a very subtle dark smudge in your peripheral vision. However, it's important to highlight that SpecTats are positioned towards the edges near the temples and do not affect the central or visual 'sweet spot' portion of the lens.

Your central vision through the center of the lens however, remains unaffected by SpecTats :-)

Even if you initially notice the SpecTats design while wearing your glasses, you will quickly adjust after a few moments.

You get custom-engraved designs on one or both of your lenses and you get to pick your favorite frame from our selection, coupled with your choice of a variety of prescription or non-prescription lenses that feature an anti-reflective (AR) coating. Every frame also comes with a case, cleaning cloth, and travel-sized cleaning spray.
