Butterfly Designs

The butterfly is a beautiful symbol for transformation, renewal, and the soul.

In art, butterflies are often used to represent the souls of people who have died. In the Victorian era, for example, butterflies were painted onto headstones. But butterflies can also serve as symbols of life and renewal. Butterflies can be seen as symbols of metamorphosis and change over time. They are also a common symbol of change in our lives as we go through different phases and stages in our development.

As a result of these different interpretations, butterflies are often found in funerary art, on gravestones. This may be because they were believed to be connected with the afterlife or because they were seen as harbingers of spring after winter's death and decay. Some even believe that monarch butterflies migrate to the place where a loved one has died so they can guide the soul on its journey into the afterlife.
