The minimum fitting height is 14mm.

Yes, but also no.

If you're looking for a lens color, material, or coating that isn't listed, please contact us. We may be able to make what you're looking for, but it may take some development to ensure a good looking end product. Many materials and coatings require their own process to come out looking great.

No.

Unfortunately, lens materials and coatings from different manufacturers react differently to our design process. As such, we cannot guarantee something is going to look good the first time on unknown lenses. Without being able to test and tweak the process, we can't be sure it will work on your lenses.

For progressive lens orders, we are able to offer half off a second order of a single vision lens.

Any frames we supply come with a 1 year warranty for manufacturing defects. This does not include loss, or damage.

For lenses, we will replace any manufacturing issues within 30 days, such as cosmetic defects or power issues with the lenses.

Returns for other reasons will be subject to our normal return policies.

Frame FAQs

Please send any frames or returns to:

SpecTats
217 Yale Ave
Morton, PA 19070

Please be sure to include a copy of your order and/or your order number with any frames sent so we know which order they belong to.

We strongly recommend shipping via an insured, trackable method.

Any frames sent to us are processed at your own risk.

All jobs requiring a frame from you will be held for 15 business days. If the frame is not received in that time, the job will be canceled and the order refunded, unless you notify us about the delay.

Any frames sent to us must have an accompanying order number so we know the order to which it belongs.

In the event that we damage your frame, an invoice provided by you from your frame vendor for the replacement frame and the physical frame, can be submitted for review for credit. Any credits and/or refunds issued cannot exceed the purchase price of the order.

Any lenses ordered will be run on a base curve chosen by us, based on the ordered prescription and lens availability. If a frame requires a specific lens base or edging thickness, it is the your responsibility to specify these requirements at the time of the order as a comment. In the event of ordered lenses being unable to work in a frame due to an omission, and/or incorrect frame information provided on the order, you will be charged a 50% rework fee for the original order, and full price for the replacement order.

We highly recommend you only ship to us with a carrier that provides tracking information and sufficient insurance to cover the loss or damage of the frame(s).

We do not provide shipping labels for frames sent to us. Shipping for the order only covers the cost of the shipping back to you.

Similarly, anything we send to you will be limited to the default carrier insurance value unless you notify us beforehand of the replacement costs of the frame(s) so we can insure them appropriately. Any requests for additional shipping insurance will be charged accordingly, based on the carrier rates at the time.

We do not cover the costs of frames lost or damaged during shipment.

We should be able to accommodate most standard optical quality frames that don't require proprietary tools to assemble.

We don't recommend frames that obstruct the temple of the lens, as that is where we usually place our designs (such as many drill mounts and magnetic clips).

Please be mindful of any frames you send us, as they are sent at your own risk. We are unable to replace any frames lost in transit, or any damage sustained due to age of frame or manufacturer defect.

Frame Shapes, Lens Sizes, and your SpecTats

Frame Shapes

Eyeglass frame shapes can be a major determining factor when choosing the perfect frame. With the right frame shape, you can emphasize your best features.

Frame shapes for the lenses can vary significantly in terms of their width and their height. This can have an impact on the final size of the your SpecTats design.

Lens Sizes

Eye size — is the horizontal width of the lenses.

Width of the lens in the frame is an average of 52mm. Generally, the eye size range of most frames will be between 44mm and 62mm.

Height of the lens in the frame is an average of 37mm. Generally, the height range of most frames will be between 28mm and 41mm.

SpecTats Sizing

SpecTats are designed to be produced at an approximate maximum size of 15mm wide and 20mm high, depending on the design and the lens size.

SpecTats will be adjusted size-wise to be proportional to the size of the lens. With the variety of frame shapes and sizes, SpecTats will be custom fit to provide the best aesthetic balance of proportion of design to your frame (seen below).

ALL SpecTats are designed and represented in the individual collections with considerations to both the Right Eye lens and Left Eye lens. However, due to the nature of specific designs, there are some limitations.

Some SpecTats cannot be mirrored for the Left Eye lens as they will lose their meaning or interpretation. Vintage Letters and Gender Symbols for example are designs that are intended to be read a certain way. For these specific SpecTats, the Left Eye version is the same as the Right Eye version.

Some SpecTats are designed with symmetry so there is no worry there about mirroring the design such as Celtic Knots. These will be identical for both Right and Left lenses.

And some SpecTats are designed with a contour to their design that allows for them to be mirrored appropriately like Floral Flourishes. Don't worry. Our design team has taken care of these details so you can pick your SpecTats with confidence that they will best represented in the final product.
