Paws and Claws

Our relationships with pets are based on emotional attachment, affection, companionship, and often think of them as part of our family. Having a pet in life is a large commitment, but having a pet can also be a great source of comfort helping with loneliness, and can be lifesavers when it comes to depression and grief. Not to mention their behaviors and antics can be downright hilarious at times.

For thousands of years, humans have studied animals and their behaviors. Animals have appeared in mythology, cultures as well as in fables with a focus on important moral lessons.

Pets are often the subject of modern symbolism like saying “cat person” or “dog person”. By saying so, it means that we see certain personality characteristics exhibited by a cat or dog in ourselves or someone else.

Our pets, and animals in general, teach us many things about ourselves and our place in the world. More importantly, they teach us about unconditional love. It’s no wonder that they hold such an important place in our hearts and homes.
